About Landmates
Landmates is Australia’s trusted platform for tiny home and land rentals run by licensed real estate agents. We’re passionate about providing more affordable housing and empowering our community to gain more time, choice and financial freedom in their lives collectively through adopting the tiny house movement.
For people interested in ‘going tiny’ this means providing them a way to do so which is affordable, easy and secure. For people who own property and want to make more money and fully utilise their space this means enabling them to do so by helping them to rent out their land to a person with a tiny home or add their own tiny home and rent it out to a person/ family long-term.
Our beginnings
Van-life, house-sitting, flat-sharing & everything in between
Landmates was born out of a curiosity & enthusiasm for different ways of living. After going down the corporate pathway and saving for years with the end goal of buying a house Landmates founder had managed to save a large deposit and yet was consistently told by mortgage brokers she couldn’t afford to buy a house on a single income. So she bought a second-hand van, did it up to live out of and took off down the East Coast. This solo trip completely changed her perspective on how we live, realising there can be room for so much more life, connection and adventure when you live with less or just do things a little bit differently.
You can live on a boat, in a van, bus, or tiny home and halve your costs of living instantly. You can also make passive income from owning any of those assets and renting them out to other people who want to use them. Both of these options lead to more financial resources and therefore more time, choice and freedom. At Landmates having freedom and autonomy to choose what we do and how we spend our time is everything, and we know if you’re reading this it probably means a lot to you too. We have created this platform for you, to gain back your time and choices by being apart of the tiny house movement, however that looks for you.
